FAQ

I don’t have a lot of time to workout with my son. How much time do I need?

You don’t need large blocks of time. In fact, if your child is resistant at first, trying to fill up 30 minutes of exercise will be counter productive. And if they are not in good condition, it will probably impossible.

Ten to sixty seconds spaced out a few times a day will have a huge impact on your child’s athletic development. You can have them do something fun (airplanes for time) just before dinner or even one-arm pumps while brushing their teeth.

Most improvement in kids is neurological so nice short, quick sessions are the best way to go.

How long will it take before we see improvement?

Every child is different and how often they practice athletic skills will have an impact as well. For some skills you might see an improvement instantly. For instance, if their stride is off and they learn how to stride correctly, one five minute session can fix the problem.

But for most kids it might take a week or two before you start noticing soccer fitness or skill improvement.

Will Athletic Skills for Kids work for my 12 year old daughter?

Absolutely. Most recreational soccer players would benefit from improving their strength, fitness and coordination. And not to mention running skills and athletic stance. I see so many kids that stand straight up during a game and run with major technique flaws. Heck from 6 to 60 most recreational soccer players would benefit.

However, the social dynamics of working with a twelve year old is different than working with an eight year old. You might find more resistance. It depends on your relationship, their motivation and a host of other factors.

Most of the techniques for working with kids that are in the book will work with older kids. The exercises are the same but the approach will be different. If you remember to keep it fun you should be fine.

What if the program doesn’t work?

I stand by the information and techniques in this book 100%. If you are unhappy with the product for any reason, please let me know and I will refund your purchase price immediately.

I’m a parent but also a soccer coach. Do you think I can use this in practice.

Absolutely! I think this program should be required reading for all beginning coaches as well as those that coach younger kids or entry level players. Most of the coaching training is focused on team skills and ball handling. Some of it is on practice organization. Little to non of it is on the fundamental skills that kids need to be successful in soccer.

Kids are coming out without the physical background for success in soccer. This will make it physically more difficult for them but mentally and emotionally as well.

Think about it. How would  you feel if you were always last in runs, running hurt, and couldn’t kick the ball? You’d give up pretty quick, wouldn’t you?

As a long time coach and PE teacher, I can tell you the sooner you get the kids moving and active the less trouble you have. Athletic Skills for Soccer will help you get the team organized and ready to go. The exercises will help them focus and concentrate. The exercises will also help them bond as a team.
